Pretty muddy Event for Cancer Research UK
I was commissioned to photograph at UK charity Cancer Research’s Race for Life event before and it is an amazing event. Last time it was for a PR shot of a High 5 world record attempt in one of Londons Royal Parks and I was up on a cherry picker. The event is full of emotion, passion and fun.
But throw in some water slides, inflatable obstacles and tonnes of mud and you amp up that fun by several notches.
This was a commission by Cancer Research UK’s (CRUK) media and marketing teams to promote this event in the future. The day itself was actually a test run to see if a muddy version of the Race for Life concept would work, if people would enjoy getting wet and muddy whilst running and then seeing if the whole event was logistically feasible. Well judging from the photos the woman certainly seemed to be enjoying it and what a fun job it was!
Every participant seemed to be having the time of their life and their laughter was infectious! Aside from dodging the mud and water that was ever where (well I didn’t sign up for the event!). As is always the case I wasn’t adverse to climbing up obstacles to try and get the best angle even if it was a bit muddy. The course was quite long so I definitely got my steps in running back and forth between locations as the next wave of runners came through (and of course jumping away from the big splashes).
Very messy, very fun and very pink..
CRUK is a fantastic Charity and their fundraising events seem to really embody the battle against Cancer in such an interesting way. It is always a pleasure shooting photography for them and their wonderful team and this event seems to have really taken off on their fundraising calendar which is great for them and for the fight against cancer.
